Genius, thank you so much, that works perfectly, eBay simple delivery is a joke.

Sometimes when I put in 800£ it doesn’t register unless I hit enter or toggle between postage and collection or buyer pays seller pays
I then get the message postage options have been updated and it goes into custom
where you do see all weights and sizes when you click on package size
once that is chosen it stays as a large package /weight when you drop the price
Different people have different devices and browsers and different looking listing pages , you have to play round with it because it IS there

why would any want to opt out of SD?
the goods sold, sent are fully tracked, and the seller gets full refund.
three incidents recently and i had full refund in days.
Go outside sd and the fight is yours, good luck contacting couriers, so only you know how much time you are prepared to waste. Some couriers want proof of purchase, meaning if item was sold for more you will only get the purchase price. Some will not pay out on used goods, some say, if paid via party not protected!
SD is, for me, a no brainer, quick, easy and full protection.

They don't charge enough for a start, so you end up with the item either being returned to you or extra charges.
There's no signed for services
And they splatter over the label that it's an eBay seller item, so an itchy fingered postman with a medium sized heavy parcel won't ever get there, which is what happened to me last week with a router I sold, the buyer got his money back and I got nothing.
It's a useless service, eBay have done nothing to recover my money or goods even though they apparently got lost by royal mail after 2 delivery attempts and I used SD, never again !!!

true, evri posting through sd is cheaper than me going through evri outside sd, and the deal between ebay and couriers is not for us to know.
what i do know is deliveries appear now to be quicker and where i have had to fight for the refund in the past now ebay take care of it all. As i said, three issues, all three refunds within days and no extra charges.
you speak of charges? perhaps share more info?
of the router, splatter? was it lost?

sd, goods covered by ebay.
lost, damaged, the fight is yours with courier, if you can contact them!

I use Royal Mail and have not had any problems getting compensation for the rare lost or damaged item. Why should ebay be paid to be the go between and make money on it?

Three?
That's a lot. I've had two total losses in 30K tracked parcels with Royal Mail. Which is why I'd rather not use SD. evri are carp.

long item into a 2foot box.
There is currently a ' technical issue' for items such as yours, which should be exempt from SD and have Custom Postage available.
This is not so, resulting in many frustrated sellers!
There is a workaround.
From the link below Go To Solution and follow the advice in Rick's answer to list your item.

listed £800 and even a 20 kilo weight and tried changing the size on some
and woe and behold my choices has widened . But as soon as I adjusted my
price not the weight eBay popped up and said my postage choice had been
adjusted to SD.
I personally have not tried Rick's solution, but offer it as a workaround as I see from many peeps that it does work.
I have also seen that for some , where like you the price just annoyingly switches back to SD to try this , refresh the page and preview after changing the price, then the price should hold.
Worth a try ? 🤔

that workaround you will have to tick free postage, that will opt out of sd and any issues with loses and damage you will have to sort that out on your own with courier. Fine if you have time and if you find a human to talk to! SD all protected by ebay, for me a no brainer. Evri accept 120cm long parcels

Not so
ticking free postage does not opt you out of SD, only exempt items will allow custom
and the workaround works with buyer or seller pays postage
as for evri , many people just don’t trust them to deliver fragile parcels ,and the jury’s out whether eBay will compensate for fragile items if evri with SD is used
why risk sending expensive rarer collectibles when you shouldn’t have to
not to mention items over 20 kgs and over 120cm
the workaround shouldn’t have to exist
ebay haven’t put a stop to sending larger and heavier parcels , they just are making it difficult to do so

Evri are heavy handed and would smash her dolls to bits and will not compensate as on list for exempt from compensation.

If they are above the size or weight limit for Simple Delivery, you can list them with custom oversized postage, using Ricks workaround. It works for me (and many others). I use Chrome web browser on Windows 10. Click View Listings next to my username for an example.
