Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Most of my sales now are small letter. Only 2 have been 'forced' into Simple Delivery, where the buyer pays more for 'delivery' than the item cost, so most of my profit taken by Ebay.   So anyway I stick the £2.70 label on to a small envelope, expecting a Recipt from PO showing tracking number.  My PO says that a glitch (on Ebay or Horizon)  prevents printing of the tracking number on the receipt for a small letter, but it does work on a Large letter.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Hi, Same here regarding postage, ebay are peddling their own preference. Only work around I have found, which you are using is to add postage to item price and offer free postage in the listing.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

@snavenairb Doesn't work. Tried the free postage for a letter-sized item, weighing less than 50g, so effectively *should* have cost just 85p postage, but ebay still charged me more than a large letter at £2.70 with their 'prepaid label'. Daylight robbery.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Create a listing, set to ‘oversize’ which may give you ability to set you own postage, e.g. 87p for letter. Save listing. If that stays at 87p, use ‘sell similar’ based on that item, making changes as appropriate. Sometimes works for my ‘normal letter’ paper items.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

But the tracking number is on your order, so you can check on it that way.

If you organise the (free) Royal Mail collection you don't get a receipt.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Thanks, @trevdbowler, but tried this and there was no option to set a size, other than the Large Letter up to 1kg, and small and medium parcels with SD.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

My workarounds may well still work for the small items as well - as everything changes from one day to the next I cannot guarantee it though   -   original  https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/how-do-you-list-anything-bigger-than-61cm/m-p/7882486...    -   updated version   https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/How-do-you-list-anything-bigger-than-61cm-Part-two/m-...

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I'm not a business seller, so perhaps that's why it doesn't work for me.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Nothing to do with being a business seller - they do not use simpleton delivery. Whichever workaround you use you have to follow it exactly. Don't do anything different or think that you can leave a step out, people who do this turn around and say that it doesn't work!

That said - the latest workaround seems to be falling down this last couple of days - ebay appears to be fiddling about in the background. ( I can't keep up with what they are doing! )

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

To be honest I am fed up of trying to get postage from eBay which is fair.
If I do not get my buyers names upfront I am in the eBay make it region.
Cheap travel cheap prices slow delivery
To get hold of some sense I have done free post on my high value items with
ebay saying seller will pay that no seller is doing free post so eBay back
off . but the smaller items eBay is taking more than it needs. Buyer
chooses label nope eBay does and keeps the change

I can still use Royal Mail but even that price is cut with eBay again
keeping the change.
A 48 hr delivery is now 3
No matter what we say and do we can not beat the eBay’s big brother
computer

The only bonus eBay pays out quicker saying we are helping the small
sellers . Big or small eBay looks after number one . Dreadful in every word
and completely out of order in everything they say and do
