Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I hope this remains in place as I was using it early in April. Ebay told me this option would definitely end on April 15th, and it did disappear for  a while, but now seems to be back again. Maybe Ebay are re-thinking this after all the feedback - let's hope so.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Sadly they are all now doing it guess they don't have a choice, I did check HMRC and you can sell up to £6k of your own stuff until you would get taxed.  The UK Government screwing us any way they can basically whilst costs of living sky rocket!

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Well none of these tips work - my advanced options have gone!  So my workaround for these extra large items I need to send by Parcel Force is to put in Free Postage and do it myself direct - obviously I have had to increase the price of the item to cover postage which doesn't look as attractive to buyers.  If anyone else has found a work around not mentioned on here, I would love to know!

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I went onto gov.uk and spoke to a tax customer service about all this ——
it’s says for small sellers like me selling there own bits as long as no
one piece is over £6000 and that’s capital gains tax so this alone will
only be a issue not selling my own collectables and bits and pieces .I
asked them why did eBay take my NI number this was if eBay told them if my
one item makes £6000 .I have just about had enough with the whole dam lot
.any one would think we are under the Mexican cartel stripping us of our
little monies we collect selling .

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

There is no work around anything .I put my postage on 3 to 5 days no
courier chosen .thats the only way this can be done and your chosen cost of
posting .re by-standing SD
.my buyers are asking me why I am charging them insurance on my sales .many
buyers do not have a clue its eBay not me .and I am also avoiding SD do
the Royal Mail label then go onto royal mail and book a collection for free
.I have just about had enough now after 17 yrs .oh ref to eBay taking are
NI number spoke to gov uk customer service and they said no small buyers
will pay tax selling there own bits and collectables only if one item sells
for £6000 then its capital gains tax

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Extra large parcels (bigger than medium parcel) or heavier than 20g have to go custom postage

theyre not eligible for simple delivery

youneed to click switch to custom postage at the bottom of the package size options page

there you will find other couriers and parcel force

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Simple delivery are the key words introduced by eBay for posting items.

Far from simple, well not in my recent experience after posting through eBay's new system. Evri was not available as a choice due to issues so used Royal Mail 48 posting a small parcel to a customer. It was posted out tracked with no updates shown for 7 days ...apart from a message running late on eBay.

On the Royal Mail tracking nothing shown. Even couriers show you tracked where the parcel is in its system, so it remains a mystery with increased postal charges why Royal Mail (when they get around to it) eventually show accepted parcel and then only the delivery date.

I was messaged by the buyer after returning from a short break away to say that they had been sent an email by RM and told that the postage for the parcel sent was 'underpaid' and was charging them an additional £3.10 before delivery!

Totally shocked as it complied in size being under 45x35x16cm and allowed weight  selected 1-2kg. The parcel weighed under 1.5kg and I paid 2nd class £3.35 . It was accepted by the Post Office on weight and size with a receipt issued.

A very aggrieved buyer and equally I am not happy with these sort of issues causing unnecessary strife that should not arise.  You then have the joy of opening a complaint through the postage chosen option on eBay and hopefully the form you have filled in will be answered within 72 hours - if lucky.

No doubt further hurdles and delays along the way to navigate before the matter is resolved !

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

They've now removed the switched advance though.. I ended a item is any time I tried to revise it was now forcing simple delivery so can't revise so trued ending a item to relist & now I can't get back with custom postage at all this is hung to ruin me and I refuse to use the scam of simple delivery. After the overweight charging svams packlink used to pull..I cant believe I'm going to have to contact ebay again this is becoming impossible platform to sell in now when you add in all the extortionate global shipping fees to usa. They already lost me £800 woth that & just when I thought I'd found way round it they pull thos cr*p of mandatory simple delivery which is not simple

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I'm sure it's still there as I just listed a few hours ago.

As I explained before, if the custom postage option doesn't show up, you'll need to click on collection only, then delivery only to bring out custom delivery options.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

It appears that some private sellers are luckier than some others who continue to struggle with SD V Custom Postage

Today is the first time I have properly relisted since all the changes have come about apart from trying SD the once and Royal Mail 48 tracked was used. That resulted in the buyer being charged for what is alleged was an underpaid parcel. It wasn’t though and opened a complaint with RM as there is a link in the pull down postage label section.  My parcel was weighed with a receipt to prove it and dimensions checked in the post office. It has resulted in me having to refund the buyer and they had to wait a total of 8 days for the item to be delivered once they paid the  excess postage, whilst four days on I am still waiting for a reply to my complaint.

I have listed everything through my personal computer and custom postage options were still available for the time being at least, so glad about that .

However I have to say as I have an account with Parcel2Go that gives all the other couriers available and the SD charged by eBay is not cheaper. In fact for the two 2kg parcels I sent out today by EVRI it was almost £1 dearer for each item if I had used eBay SD. There was a mark up with RM tracked as well on SD when comparing prices. The same service providers used and more expensive through SD than P2G on parcels.

So it would appear that FeeBay are not content with their charges for so called buyer protection  that includes VAT but also marking up the postage charge ......surprisingly something they have been attempting to stop sellers doing!

However the majority of private sellers are only charging what it cost to cover postage and the packing with some having extra expense delivering to a post office. Many of us even choose to  incorporate those charges now into the item they are selling and offering FREE postage it has to be said.

These changes are not going down well with the buying public and less so with private sellers as sales continue to fall.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I am at a loss what to do my listings that had Royal Mail tracked 48hrs on
have been changed to Evri standard delivery and I do not know the cost or
buyers address until I download there label. Which I did today bloody
outrageous .but I know it’s much cheaper .
I avoid Evri like the plaque
How can us little sellers move forward with no control over what we list
what we charge and worst of all I am disabled and rural post officers
nowhere .at least when it was Royal Mail I could arrange a pick up .and now
Royal Mail are charging 30 p extra .where the hell do we start as there is
no end in sight

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

You can go into your postal preferences and switch EVRI to off, which is what most people with at least one brain cell should be doing.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

As advised, you do not have to use Evri - see below how to change your preferences.

You can also get the item collected by RM once you have printed the label.

30p is not a large amount for the convenience of having your item collected.

Available carriers and delivery options

You'll automatically be opted in to use all carriers that are available in this programme. If you would prefer not to send your items with a particular carrier, you can exclude them in your settings. Here's how:

  1. Go to your Postage preferences - opens in new window or tab.
  2. Select Edit next to Simple Delivery.
  3. Adjust the toggle next to the carrier you'd prefer not to use.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I do have one brain sell to tell you today I sold a item and it was with
Royal Mail
So today when I looked for the buyers details I had no address no name
nothing and as the buyer chose my label it was with Evri standard delivery
which I downloaded which is the label they gave me .
I did not expect them to change my label but they did and all the brain
sells in the world will not make a bit of difference eBay rules like it or
not
The only thing I can control is a free post label but how can you do a
label for low cost sales .

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

It is easy enough just to switch Evri off so that you only get RM. Just go to postage preferences and go to Simple Delivery, then edit, and toggle them off and on at will. Anything now sold with the Simple Delivery will supply you with a label and it isn't until you print it, can you see where it is going.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I always use Royal Mail 48 hr tracked never Evri .and 3 to 5days no courier
mentioned which I choose myself if they give me a Royal Mail label it’s
not for collection but put it on Royal Mail to be collected they charge 30
p now
.but I was shocked today when eBay said the buyer had chose a Evri label
and it was exchanged to Evri standard delivery and only then can I see the
buyers details on that label not before then .it does your head in all
this all for stronger claws to bite you

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Probably as eBay are slowly changing everyone's listings over to SD garbage, then this will have caught up in the listings.

Use only one of the shippers: evri OR royal mail and the Simple Delivery cost increases....has that used enough brain cells for you?
