Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Some of your listings are royal mail. Both with a postage price and with free postage

When I have bought via simple delivery it hasn't said they are Evri or royal mail, just standard or express tracked, yet one of your listings does state Evri, have you tried editing it? And as I noticed before, some of your listings are at the price for having left Simple Delivery to be both Evri or Royal Mail

Have you definitely changed your preferences here? https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf/simpledelivery
61x46x46cm is fairly large, but yes Parcel Force is larger. For the dressmakers dummy you can put custom postage, if you wished

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Yes I am checking them for evri every few days evri no good anyway no
pickups I am rural and disabled .reason I use Royal Mail and pay 30p now
for collection Extra time now given especially relisting not in a million
years would I use evri .for my fragile listings the smaller items are or
should be with RM or advanced settings 3 to 5 courier of my choice .this
item on Monday was free post but when I looked it said buyer chose 24 evri.
even though I had not downed that label it was deducted from my earnings
.and I had to fight to get it back .needs a specialist to sort it they said
.what a mess

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I wont hold my breath!

During the telephone call with an agent from eBay, she told there was an option for items below £10 and gave me hope only for it to be dashed as it does not do this anymore.  I have over £100 of credit with Parcel2Go, plus I was givng customers a much cheaper price than this Special Delivery!

eBay really have gone and lost me as a seller and customer, thankfully i still have items for sale that I can use for the P2G credit.

that has now gone, i do know what you mean as it was there before and I found it and listed but as of very recently (the last week) they have taken it down.

24/6/25

what a poo 💩 eBay could have kept it for a little longer to allow listing items to cover my P2G credit

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

24/6/25 eBay have taken this option away

unless the item is part of the excluded list like coins.

even the under £10 and under 1kg has gone  so private sellers are

now forced to use Simple Delivery when listing items

BEWARE if you revise an old listing it will turn into a SD

so dont do that if you want to keep your own postage!!

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

eBay have now taken this option off

so bascially we are f*&%$

and my postage was cheaper due to my account with P2G being cheaper with Evri!

So eBay are not passing on their saving to the customer like I did.

eBay are doing what P2G do but keeping the cost high and not passing on the saving to us or the buyer!!!

greedy

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Go onto advanced settings do 3 to 5 days courier and you can choose your
own courier. If you go in on SD it will automatically say evri buyer choose
nope not a chance this is the only way of getting the buyers address
With SD s—- you have to down load the label only then is the buyers address
given on that label
I have been selling my collectibles bits and pieces since 2007 and I have
enjoyed listing
Yes we paid fee’s but we also had £1 listings no matter what it was at
least we knew where we were standing
But since this SD and the buyers being ripped off with buyers protection
and I buy and I am furious at the 4% added .
I have lost the eBay mojo I just can not be asked.
I have lost the couriers who carry over 10 kilo’s and big boxes not evri or
RM do this
and I will not put my bits and pieces in evri hands
What we need is a bidding site like eBay plenty of buy it now sites and I
know a lot of eBay members will be gone and hundreds have all ready left
we will never win no matter how many times we moan .new buyers are on
eBay who only know SD .so quote if you are not going to except this change
just leave .that sums it all up

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

There is no advanced setting on listings unless in particular categories or over a certain price. Even then for say,  sports equipment it seems pretty random if the over size or over 20kg advanced option shows.

And it does not automatically go to evri, you must change the setting here to no evri https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf/simpledelivery

I've just done labels for my father, Evri drop off is miles away, he had royal mail only selected, and royal mail labels is what he got. The buyer cannot choose between royal mail and evri (which probably annoys some buyers, I don't mind, our local Evri is very good, just no drop off)

If a listing has Evri showing on it it has not been set up with simple delivery.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

If you start a listing with a 100 % oversized item eg kitchen table and chairs custom postage will kick in immediately

you chose your options then save draft

revise draft to change the category to your one and custom postage stays

At least all the dummy tests I’ve done show this

Cant guarantee eBay won’t fiddle with it before it sells though

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I've already had a look at that method. I've had problems even getting the custom settings in categories where it should be (eg tennis rackets and/or bags)  unless I did sell one like this via a business seller listing. But as soon as I change category it goes

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I concur as raised this in my previous post and pondered on the evolving events meantime......

Since then I have provided my NIN number to eBay as was requested.

Since  Xmas to June  I met the ludicrous 30 items sold - so in essence over the past six months five personal unwanted items a week but certainly not £1,000 generated.  I have nothing to hide from HMRC on personal goods sold. I probably buy as much as I sell for the household, family and friends.

Also I remained confused whilst eBay were playing about with the system I was able to send items under a certain value for my preferred couriers and even items over £20. Then it fluctuated sometimes the advanced option was available and sometimes not,  so forced to use their two choice of couriers.

Like yourself I use P2G and  have an account.  In many instances it is cheaper to use there service to send items but eBay have monopolised that FeeBay stream with introducing SD and setting their own prices for sending our goods to line their pockets further.

There is very little activity on the site and eBay attempts to draw buyers in with their 5% discount codes. When there is a 4% hike added by them on items listed then in reality they lose nothing. In fact I reduced a lot of my items to absorb the extra buyer  protection fee that was added to each of my items and again sent offers on items watched at a reduced price.

If they don't sell at a reasonable price I donate them to a local charity.

Even when reducing the price it still generates very little interest and compared to this time last year this market place IMHO is flat as a pancake.

Clearly from the forum posts read it is not just private sellers who feel extremely vexed and many of them have closed their accounts  - including those that were sheep in wolves clothing - business sellers posing as private sellers.

Unfortunately genuine private sellers will have to grin and bear it by accepting the changes implemented as I can't see that eBay will change or revise this SD model now introduced.

However time will tell as to the actual impact on disregarding the foundation of their business when private sellers leave you have a market place of very little interest and  if I decide to finally close my account I won't be buying on the site any longer for my family. There will be probably many others who resonate with these sentiments. So the knock on effect that is already evident for business sellers with small profit margins and constant outgoings via an eBay shop and listing fees will no doubt suffer as a consequence.

All this said eBay will have lost the opportunity to halt the downhill flow as private/business sellers and buyers leave the site and decide for their own reasons not to return.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

There has never been a time when eBay was not popular .but now they are
causing there own downfall with some little s—- sitting on his her bum
making rules as they go a long. and of course it’s all about money now

I joined eBay when there was just mates sitting in there bedroom and us
members getting together making eBay the site to go too. us buyers and
sellers put eBay on the map and made them rich .but today we are excess bag
age .I list but the rest is taken from me .I can not go anywhere else as
eBay does not give buyers info upfront .down load the label and it’s there
.I do at the moment have some advanced settings but that loop hole is
closing .

Ebay will not be able to put this right if they do not change course .when
I list when is the word I put a postage cost in and eBay buyer chooses
which courier to use. I put royal mail eBay puts evri .and I know it’s
cheaper but do I get a refund on postage nope none zero

as for giving my NIN number I spoke to a man at there local tax office and
he said I do not have to pay taxes on my bits and bobs as long as my bits
are mine nothing zero and they will only charge me if one item made £6000
and that would be capital gains which I would have to pay .eBay is making
this up as they go along and scaring people buyers sellers and there is no
need .how about a bit of honesty and tell people this applies as the tax
agent notify’s me

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Ebay have not invented the 30 item and £1700ish, they have to do it.
And I have not yet had the experience of opting out of evri but the label coming up as evri not Royal Mail.

If you listed with royal mail postage and at some point it changed to simple delivery and you have not opted out of using evri then it probably will be evri because it's cheaper. I changed my preferences before my listings were automatically changed to simple delivery. And you have something listed with evri delivery - that's not simple delivery, you must have set it to evri, but maybe in that instance it is the best option

Have you changed the postage preferences here https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf/simpledelivery

Your listings that don't state which postal service do seem to have the postage price of someone who has left it as either Royal Mail or Evri for SD

Thank you for your info to be honest this is a absolute mine field .knowing
what route to take .why oh why do we have to except this any body would
think we are run by the Mexican cartel do this or else

I have seen over the last few months many of my best friends business
sellers private sellers and buyers who have all ready left and leaving are
right enough is enough

.we have paid are fee’s in thousands to make millions for eBay but now
loyalty means nothing my door like many others will close soon
EBay will not be missed but the friends made worldwide will

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

A trick I just tried that works as of 29/06/2025 is to set the Buy It Now/Starting Price to £800 or something when creating the auction, which then disqualifies the item for Simple Delivery.

After you set this price, you will be able to specify the weight and dimensions of the item (prior to that there was no option anywhere for me to do it).

If you set any dimension over the limit - 61 x 46 x 46 in the case of Royal Mail - then it can no longer be shipped by Simple Delivery.  If you then change the price back to what you actually wanted it to be, it still shows the package as "Oversized", and you can choose what services you want to provide.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Hi Edwardian-dreams. Would I have to do this just once or every time I create a listing or relist?  I’m at the point of giving up on eBay and it’s all down to simple delivery. Talk about a misnomer!
