Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

You are obviously someone who is selling more than a couple of items per month mine on the other hand are collectable items which people expect to receive in pristine condition, which evri can't seem to do so I use Parcelforce for larger items that can't be sent RM and not having that option means I have had limit what I can sell on ebay which means I leaving

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

This is getting out of order and beginning to think eBay is changing the
goal posts so that they can get more money going via evri.and we can not do
a blooming thing about it

I have just sold one of my listings and it’s been changed to evri 24 when
it should be RM 48 who are still collecting albeit charging 30 p. If the
buyer chooses RM I can still get a pickup .what blooming *bleep* the buyers
choosing there options on my items.

There is no options for heavy boxes which I use via parcel-force .if you
are getting peed off I can go stronger all I have left is listing and the
rest taken over by eBay buyers .some buyers do not have a clue about
posting sizes costs .but they are still choosing the cheapest label and I
am not sending my antique dolls or any collectibles via evri this should be
done as always parcel-force next day service and it’s a free label I pay
when I know the end weight so how come eBay says sellers pay this when I do
not know myself

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I am just a small private seller who has been a collector of many things
over 60 yrs. have used Royal Mail or parcel-force since being on eBay to
many years to remember but eBay was fair back then .
my listings are just sitting there because eBay wants me to lower prices I
have lost a lot all ready but I will recall them all if need be .I used to
sell more of my dolly stuff but now I can not be bothered .everything I
have has had a life .
Rbut now eBay is controlling most of everything including that it is not
fun anymore and so many of my friends have left. We are the heart of eBay
if that dies so will they .they need to repair a sinking ship before all is
lost fast

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Have you toggled the postage preference to OFF for EVRI?

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I think I replied to you previously that you can turn off Evri (I included the link) and if your item is valued above the amount Ebay set for Simple Delivery then you can choose postage service as you would have previously

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Here is the reply I gave you on the 5th:

If you don't want to use Evri you can opt out and only use Royal Mail

https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf/simpledelivery

You can send up to 20kg

You can select seller pays for postage - although I think that means the 4% part of the buyer protection will be added, so better to have the postage paid by seller, not a huge difference but a difference.

Finally if your item is higher value than Simple Delivery covers, £750, the postage option will change to allow custom.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

I did give a reply with a link to how to do that on the 5th. And information on how higher value items are outside of Simple Delivery.
Perhaps ebay just haven't been clear enough the information does say that items have to be £750 or less but doesn't say you can then do custom postage for over that amount. But it does say you can opt out of Evri or Royal Mail.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Yes you did reply to me about turning off evri
It did work but eBay has now taken my RM listings off and replaced with
evri. Today I had a 3 to 5 day posting which was Royal Mail 48hr tracker
but the buyer changed it to SD evri
It is becoming harder to get the buyers address so I can choose my courier

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

So you have changed your Simple Delivery preferences here https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf/simpledelivery but ebay then offered Evri?

Double check you have Evri switched off, because when I look at your listings I see prices that look as if you have both Royal Mail and Evri selected.

As far as a customer knows they just purchase simple delivery and that's it, they've no idea if Evri or RM; so a buyer can't change it, they can select standard or express.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

You can have evri switched off and have only RM, but ebay can decide to change to evri after sale if they want to. Seller can opt for want they want but ebay can override your choice at the last minute.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

That’s what is happening to me eBay decides at the last minute and then
only then will eBay release the buyers address once it’s down loaded .like
to night changed from RM to evri before this started I had access to
the buyers address and then chose my label .

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Yes Ebay do have the clause to say they can override if the sizing isn't right or something but with Royal Mail it can go up to 20kg 61cm x 46cm x 46cm... I'd probably cancel a sale if the label turned up as Evri, it's too far to the nearest drop off.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

But the prices showing now on your items up for auction look like the prices for if you don't exclude either Royal Mail or Evri - the prices are slightly higher when you select Royal Mail only. So do go and check your preferences look like this:

If it keeps changing you might have to contact customer services...

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Just a thought....not sure but can you not cancel the label generated after getting the address and then use your own courier outside of eBay then upload the tracking on the site.

SD is certainly not my choice. I was in discussion with a customer advisor  at the weekend over a label generated through eBay and the tracking automatically uploaded onto the item sold to the buyer.

From the tracking update I advised the buyer that the item had been delayed. He then opened a case for non delivery after five days in transit.  On the sixth day the courier attempted to deliver and in the  open case I entered these details. The response was extremely hostile and abusive from the buyer and started to accuse me of providing fake tracking!  I was really upset and then was told to stop posting messages in the case (there were three from me) and then demanding his money back .....although it stated no returns on my listing. The courier tried again to deliver the package but clearly the buyer wasn't opening his door or accepting it. Hopefully the item will be returned.....and I don't lose out.

So I discussed the new SD system on the phone and from what I gather low value items under £10 can be sent using either using SD/ advanced options. However  I have posted an item that sold for £30 using the advanced option so that somehow adds to the confusion and looks like it can vary during listing.

However generally more expensive items for private sellers will only show SD and that for some is not the service they wish to use.

A suggestion if only two options are visible neither ones you want to use  request a call back on line chat, ' speak to an agent' and explain your  personal situation. The postal issues you are experiencing could be explained in detail or maybe resolved.  The more people that complain about a biased system the more likely it will change. Look at the U turn by the government for pensioners Winter Fuel Allowance.

United you stand 💪 divided you fall 😫

I do consider from the conversation with the adviser that there may be further 'tweeks' in the system to come. I guess that is a wait and see with the downturn in sales and people jumping ship. Maybe take a short break while things settle down.

If your item sent was damaged, lost  both the buyer and seller get there money back  so  I was assured using SD   - but that doesn't reassure me as that is available through your own choice of couriers anyway,  that are often cheaper  to use than eBay and more reliable from my experience.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

That's not the case, if you opt out of EVRI and save just Royal mail, you can still end up with EVRI. How? because on that preferences page, eBay say that 'There may be exceptions where preferred couriers are unavailable due to your location or package size.' I recently sold 4 items one evening, and despite selecting for Royal Mail as default, eBay automatically decided 2 would go by EVRI. Apparently Manchester and Darlington can't be reached by Royal mail but EVRI can manage to find them! It's all total BS, they give you a feel-good option to opt out of a particular carrier then let themselves choose them for you anyway.

Re: Avoiding Simple Delivery

Like you I do not know what’s going on .my last few listings have had Royal
Mail on them so that if I pay 30p they will collect from me
but all have been changed by ebay to evri. and with no buyer contact
details what can I do but down load the blooming label
That’s all right if you have that drop off but being rural I do not
I dislike evri just the name is enough. I did a free label advanced
settings 3to 5 days this is the only way I can get the buyers details.
But guess what my little earning was minus £8.50 changed to evri. Deducted.
I was not a happy bunny I paid for it and uploaded tracker .getting it back
was a nightmare my call went to eBay USA eBay uk and god only knows the
rest
I put in a serious complaint ha ha no chance of winning
The only thing I now have my control off is my listing the rest is eBay’s.
Nowhere for heavy boxes unless in a small size
The little sellers who have been loyal are not worth a fig and I am and
believe we are being controlled by Mexican cartels and the mafia it’s 2025
not 1935 and are being picked bit by bit like a chicken .
The sad thing after 18 yrs is eBay has never been so cruel in picking on us
like they do now
New members are fine joining ebay as they except the new rules but us fall
in line or leave
