return

Hello ,  I bought a medal on the 28th July ,  I paid £1,602.  for it . when it arrived , I found that it had over £1,000 of damage .  which the seller knew about beforehand , and had not disclosed .  I contacted the seller , who said " hard luck ".  I started a returns request through ebay . the seller agreed , but asked me to hold off returning it until after the 18th Aug.  as they were on holiday .  When I downloaded the postage label , it had been made out for the 13 th Aug. so seven days later it ran out !, your've guest it , on the 18th . Ebay told me to contact the seller and request another label , The seller will not answer .

Ebay now says it has closed the case , leaving me with a damaged medal , and £1,000 out of pocket .  I have asked Ebay to call me........no call .

The seller ran you out of time to make any sort of claim ---FFI >

You only have 30 days from delivery date to open an official  'Item not as described' case below --- follow the instructions carefully and escalate to eBay on day 4 for their assistance >

Outside that 30 day timeline ? --- your Bank/Payment Card issuer should advise re:- Chargeback.

If you don't return the item within the time stated in the case, Ebay close the case and it can't be re-opened.

As advised, you can turn to your payment provider.  Start a payment dispute sooner rather than later.

However, Ebay do offer sellers protection in the case of chargebacks/payment disputes and I feel this may apply here because the seller accepted the return and did provide a label but you did not return the medal in time:

Excluded Transactions:

The payment dispute relates to an eBay Money Back Guarantee case that was already resolved with:

  • eBay determining that the seller met their obligations to the buyer, or
  • eBay issuing a full refund to the buyer
