"Untested" used in descriptions

Is there a way to force eBay to no longer allow "untested" and "not sure if it works" descriptions in listings to be banned or stopped?

Having being caught out again with a camera lens. Described as -"untested as I don't have a camera body to test on but lens is clean and no scratches".

The issue was obvious when it rattled when it arrived. 😐📷

So far' eBay have upheld each "untested" description when the seller has lied about the actual issue in the seller's favour. I end up out of pocket with the thing in the bin.

It's a get out of jail card as they "knew nothing about that mate" and there is no comeback at all.

I think I've bought untested again this time in the hope that it would be genuine, but no, that's 100% hit rate for untested items are actually broken rubbish. If it says that, don't buy it.

If an item is described as used but says untested in the description it is supposed to work.  If it doesn't you make a claim for item not as described.

It is extremely uncommon for ebay to find in a seller's favour for cases as above, you have been very unlucky if that's what they have done.

You make it sound as if the seller and or Ebay set out to deceive you.

However, the last item you left feedback for was sold as 'For parts, not working' and the seller had added 'spares and repairs'.

Ebay says you can expect the condition of 'for parts not working items to be, '

For parts or not working

An item that does not function as intended or is not fully operational. This includes items that are defective in ways that render them difficult to use, items that require service or repair, or items missing essential components. See the seller’s listing for full details.

If the item is describes as 'used' it's expected to work.  If you buy items honestly described as above, even if the seller goes on to say that the item might be repairable, has been in a box for years, hasn't been tested but may work etc. etc. then you should not expect to be able to return them if they don't work.
