posting unusual parcels

I'm in the process off selling all the components of a model railway set-up.

Much of the track is in 1 meter lengths which I am packing in 110cm tubes, weighing between 1 and 2 KG

These come within the permitted parcel size for Evri.

I can find this option in the advanced postage selection  when listing an item, but when it is sold ebay do not offer that option.  I have had to list the price (£4.79) as obtained from the Evri website and that is what is paid by the buyer.   But I am having to buy the postage labels from the Evri website and pay for them myself.

Ebay only offer Parcel Force at a much higher price.

Am I missing something?

I assume I am still credited with the postage that the buyer has paid......

Re: posting unusual parcels

There is an issue , a long standing one,  that Custom Postage is not showing for items which are exempt from Simple Delivery,  namely oversize or lightweight items.

There are 2 workarounds that work:

https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/how-do-you-list-anything-bigger-than-61cm/m-p/7882486...

or from the link below, another workaround is offered:

https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/How-do-you-list-anything-bigger-than-61cm-Part-two/m-...

For any Simple delivery postage labels purchased,  but not used:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.  Also ensure you add the replacement tracking number of the service used, and it shows delivery.

Re: posting unusual parcels

Thanks for those thoughts and links.

As I have already posted 3 of these items and listed 4 more, I decided to go down the "Request a Refund for Simple Delivery" route.  Filling the form was OK but when I submitted that it was rejected because the order number was "in the wrong format".  It wasn't and anyway I had copied and paster the number from the order....

So I contacted Custpmer Service by phone and got a very helpful guy, who said that if I enter the tracking number for each item, ebay will recognise that I have paid for the postage and will pass on what the buy has paid.  I have fingers crossed.....
