Did he get a certificate of posting?  That should have a tracking number on.

You need to add the tracking number into the transaction, if ebay has already added one, which would happen if you bought the postage from ebay, you will need to contact ebay and ask them to add it for you.

You need to finalise the transaction now only on the Seller Hub here:

Go to Orders >> Awaiting Postage, click on the item then top left on View Order Details.

Far right from More Action drop down menu click on ' Mark as Dispatched' if you have it, add any tracking number there too.  Or,  you can add the 16 digit number on the bottom of the proof of posting if the item was larger than a letter size.
