With Simple Delivery eBay refund the buyer for loss or damage in transit when the buyer opens a relevant case, and the seller keeps the payment.
I'm afraid now you've refunded upfront ebay won't do anything. Hope it wasn't too much money. At least you know for next time.

Did buyer open a proper NOT RECEIVED CASE for lost in post, if so ebay should have taken over and refunded, and you keep the money.
This is what buyers pay ebay for when purchasing from a seller.
