I purchased an aircon Unit at £450 a couple of weeks ago. it transpires that it is faulty (draws over 100Amps on a 12v battery) and when i tried to arrange for a return, before the return cut off date , i got a reply stating that the seller would get back to me Asap with details. Since then there has been no further communication from them for 2 weeks, despite several requests and when i then asked for a return through Ebay the seller simply refused. The goods are faulty. They should be refunded but i am being told that Since the seller refuses the return the case is closed. The chat Bots are useless. Anyone have a contact number or method by which i can take this further please

if you opened a not as described case the seller cannot close it and you escalate the case to eBay for a refund - you must stick to eBay's timeframes.

Your mistake was to open a return request when it should have been a money back guarantee case.
The bad news is that eBay will not normally allow you to open a second return for the same item.
The good news is that your seller is a business seller with a 30 day returns period. If a seller has refused to comply with their stated returns policy you can ask eBay to convert the closed return request into a money back guarantee case. (You say that you only purchased this a couple of weeks ago, so should still be withn the time limit.)
The even better news is that if it's converted into a money back guarantee case the seller should be responsible for the return delivery.
This does however mean that you will have to persist in your efforts to contact eBay customer support. Have you tried the call-back option, which should put you in touch with a human being.

You needed to open an eBay return and select the 'Item is defective' reason for the return. The return must be opened within 30 days of receipt, and the seller then has 3 business days to issue you with a pre-paid returns label. They cannot refuse the return.
If they don't issue a label then there'll be an option to ask eBay to step in, use that.
If you just leave the return unactioned then it'll just time out and close.
Do you know what went wrong for you with the above process?
