ebay are trying to charge fees for an item I didn’t sell

Ebay have been trying to charge me £10.80 in unpaid seller’s fees for 5 weeks for an item that I never sold and just removed from the listing. It had been on there for months, a buyer contacted me about and I said it was no longer for sale and the listing shouldn’t be there.

They were totally fine, I sent the money straight back, when I went to remove listing it wasn’t live so I couldn’t understand how they been able to purchase it but that was the last i heard of it. Then ebay have be hounding for £10.80 for selling it when i didn’t.

The chat bots can’t help, I can’t find a way to comunicate with a human via email - does anyone please know what to do?

But you did sell it, you just didn't have it to sell.

Can you explain  exactly what the fees are?  Private sellers don't usually get charged selling fees and listing fees are non refundable.

I sent the money straight back

Then you did sell it!  The fact that you no longer had it or had changed your mind about selling is irrelevant. You're lucky your buyer was so understanding and didn't leave you negative feedback.

eBay is entitled to any fees payable for the sale. As a private seller there won't be any final value fee, but if you selected any optional, promotions or paid-for listing enhancements like a reserve price these will are payable whether or not an item sells.

If you look at eBay's fees for private sellers it may jog your memory of what listing features you selected: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/fees-private-sellers?id=4822&st=3&pos=1&qu...

When you say it had been on for months, could it possibly have been listed before the no selling fees started, and when sold (it did sell whatever you think) the old selling still applied.

From what I can remember of the scale of fees £10.80 does not sound correct, but otherwise I cannot think of any other charges that would make up that cost.
