credit car age approval

Hi - I don't have a credit card and can't stand the things so will not be getting one. I was robbed blind during the PPI scandal: once bitten and all that. Went to buy a lovely vintage chisel and was told I had to verify my age - fair enough - then asked to produce a credit card to complete the verification process.  Can't do that so does this mean I can't use Ebay any more? As a luthier I buy 'bladed' tools often so is there another way that I can prove I'm 65?

No.  The only way that Ebay allow sellers to verify age is by payment with a credit card.

There are plenty of other ways to prove age, but I imagine eBay doesn't want the trouble of viewing and returning documents. The quick and easy way is to insist on payment by a credit card, which is only available to persons aged 18 or over.

It's their site, their rules, your choice.
