buying bladed items

Am trying to purchase a set of carving chisels but have to provide proof of age. eBay asked for credit card details which I provided but weren't accepted. Their chat line is useless as doesn't cover this problem. Anyone else had the same difficulty? What do I do?

The only thing I can think of is the validity of the credit card.  It used to be,  that a card had to have 6 months validity , not sure if this still does apply,  but worth checking your card in case.

It's not Amex by chance?  That is no longer accepted on eBay.
