Why is ebay so useless when reporting false adverts?!

I have reported several listings as false advertisement because the seller has listed them under brand names when they're not, with the intention of boosting item views and buys. I appealed the reports and apparently " AI" has closed the reports with nothing being done about the false listings. It is frustrating as I'm trying to save buyers from being scammed in to buying wrongly named items, but Ebay is allowing it, AI has no intelligence with these things and listings need to be viewed properly by people.

Did you report through the report this item on the actual listings?

If you did and it has not been removed that is all you can do.

The buyers are covered by the ebay money back guarantee if items are not

as described. If they open disputes then they can get their money back.

They can also leave the appropriate feedback

Too many bad ones and ebay should take action

Not ideal but buyers are at least covered

This happens all the time and is an example of how eBay's so-called AI seems to be little more than glorified keyword monitoring.

What you have reported is brand name abuse, but eBay does not act on reports on this from ordinary users. To quote, "Only intellectual property rights owners can report eBay listings that infringe on their copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights".

If eBay was using proper AI it would be able to compare your report with eBay's database of policies, and send you a customised reply explaining why your report could not be considered.

It would also have referred you to eBay's advice that "Members who are not the rights owner can still help by getting in touch with the owner and encouraging them to contact us. Some rights owners who participate in the VeRO Program have created a participant page, so eBay members can find out more about their products and legal positions. Though not all VeRO participants have a page, those that do can be found at our VeRO participant pages".
