I've just sold an item to New Zealand, to a regular buyer. I posted the sale quoting 'Royal Mail - International Tracked' at £29.45
The buyer purchased the item and paid the quoted postage charges. On posting the item, I find that eBay has overridden the Royal Mail charge of £29.45 paid by the seller, and given (and charged) me a UPS label at £36.99 !
I want to use Royal Mail, not UPS. I am now also £7.54 out of pocket. Can eBay do this. Why do eBay do this ?

You don't have to use UPS or buy the label from Ebay.
Take the item to the Post Office and buy your label there, or use Royal Mail Click and Drop to buy your own label and cancel the Ebay label.

But that means using my own money to buy more postage ? eBay have taken £36.99 out of my funds 🙄

That is why previous answer says “ and cancel the Ebay label.“, as that gets a refund.

But doesn't answer my original question as to 'why'...

I assume it was item for Jacqui.
If so you have freepost for UK and RM International for NZ.
So just buy your own postage.
