Unsolicited additional item received

I ordered something from a seller in March and it arrived as expected with no issues, all good. A month later I recieved a second package from the same seller with a completely unrelated item in brand new condition of considerable value (2k).

The seller has now contacted me asking if they can arrange for the item to be returned to them or if they can come and collect it, they say that it is a labelling error and they sent it to me by mistake.

My concern is that this is some kind of finance scam, so I'm reluctant to return the item directly to the seller. What should I do?

You should let the seller have his item back.

What sort of 'finance scam' do you think it might be and where else would you send it?

I don't think this is a scam.

Personally, I would ask the seller for a label, or payment for postage, and then I would send it back.
