Simple delivery failure

Twice now the postman has failed to turn up with the postage label so i can send an item out via simple delivery. It is now making a mockery of me,as i have always sent items out promptly. It is showing that i am late in posting it.Yet i made an arrangement(allegedly) for the postman to pick it up on Monday and then on Wednesday .No label both times.I have now got one of my managers to send it out via Royal Mail.I cannot put up the tracking as there is no place to put it.I cannot do any more than i have as i am away for sometime. This is truly a poorly thought out process.Which has so far lost me 3 sales. That and being unable to upgrade the postage is frustrating to say the least.Even though my listing state that the mounts are 16" x 12 ".and they are put in as a small parcel ,simple delivery still puts them down as a large letter. You couldn't make this up.I have tried contacting ebay, but they seem to push me from pillar to post with no one giving a sensible solution. Can anyone help?

Re: Simple delivery failure

eBay's Simple Delivery is not faultless, but you can surely see it cannot be blamed for your postman not turning up to collect your items.

If you have used another service not SD, you can manually add your tracking , preferably using a laptop / PC this way:

  • Go to "Orders Paid & Dispatched"
  • Click on "View order details"
  • Within the "Postage" section there's a small dropdown arrow next to "Track Package" - click on that.
  • Click on the "Add tracking" option
  • A box will come up with the current tracking number . Delete that and replace it with your tracking.

Re: Simple delivery failure

The postman didn't turn up with the label, twice.Ebay's simple delivery will not let you put in the proper sending rates ,after they have taken the money for the wrong postage. So yes i agree it is not faultless. Moreover a poorly thought out way of getting money. To make a major shift from the way that things have been conducted pretty much since Ebay kicked off.I do expect it to be faultless.Still showing dispatch overdue, even though the thing has been delivered.

Re: Simple delivery failure

If you can open the simple delivery postage label online it will automatically mark the item as dispatched.

Re: Simple delivery failure

You , me, and everyone I admit and agree,   expect it to be faultless, but sadly it isn't, so workarounds have to be used / found,  if one wishes to carry on selling.

If you use your own postage / costs and not SD you can receive a refund for the unused labels,  it depends on who paid for the label.

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.  Also ensure you add the replacement tracking number of the service used, and it shows delivery.

If your own postage has been selected then you can manually update the new tracking, preferably using a laptop / PC and not the app.

If you need to in future,  this is the process:

  • Go to "Orders Paid & Dispatched"
  • Click on "View order details"
  • Within the "Postage" section there's a small dropdown arrow next to "Track Package" - click on that.
  • Click on the "Add tracking" option
  • A box will come up with the current tracking number . Delete that and replace it with your tracking.

Re: Simple delivery failure

Thank you for that.Though why do we have to fill a form out ,when you have already put tracking up ?

Re: Simple delivery failure

Do you mean for the postage refund ?

This is so eBay are aware a refund needs to be processed.  Some buy SD labels,  use their own postage,  but do not register the new tracking,  and unless eBay are notified the SD label wasn't actually used they will not refund.

Triggering a Simple delivery label,  marks an item immediately as dispatched.
