Apparently anything which presently requires Age Verification (eg selling of table knives) will be exempt from Simple Delivery override coming mid April.
Wife just got off phone with Custome Support as she was worried about SD over riding Age Verification services without an Age Verification option being avialable. They said you will still be able to custom any new listing to pick services with age verification....let see, but hopefully so.

This is the member to member forum which is for asking Ebay related questions for members to answer.
This is your second post where you are passing on information another person has been given by Customer Services.
The issue is that people read such posts and then pass the information on, even though it may not be the case.
I am sure you are trying to be useful and helpful, but you may be posting information which is inaccurate.
I am going to ask the Community Team for clarification of the point you have just made.
Can you confirm if this is correct and SD will mean no age verification postage will be required please?

Thank you - I thought that what Member to member help was. Perhaps if they made these community pages easier to navigate I could have worked it out as I haven't been advised when making the submission. I'm struggling to know how to post anything...and your response helps me none.
Good to know that even thought I've got my information 'from the horses mouth' people may actually read it (horror) and it 'may not be correct' (so thats how much confidence in you I should have?) and people passing the information on is not recommended.
Also good to know that you are all on the same page and completely informed.....
You couldn't even sort out Age Verification before you rolled out and you are having to ask????
Heaven forbid that while ebay is messing with my life consistently over the last week or so and will continue to do so for the next 2 weeks at least while you slowly introduce SD, I'm told off for putting a post in the wrong place (nicely maybe but only informatively up to a point - it is ebays way).
I haven't got time to look every help page possible to find out where to post correctly (not that I knew I wasn't) because I'm so busy trying to survive SD - so thanks for not giving me a useful and correct piece of information I can rely on, like where or how I should be posting....

It wasn't simply that the post was not on one of the discussion boards - it does say at the top of this one:
Can you confirm if the OP is correct and SD will mean no age verification postage will be required please?

I, me, the seller recieved the information directly from Customer Services, not from someone else as you state.

My husband has an account (on which I help out) and my account - it can get confusing. This was my experience, but it being 'someone elses' (as you say) as in my SPOUSE really doesn't undermine its legitimacy.

You stated in your opening post 'Wife just got off phone with Custome Support'.
So, I assumed that you, the writer of the post, had a wife who had been speaking to Customer Support.

We 'mentors' see many examples of ebay CS giving out entirely the wrong information which completely contradicts published policy and seems to have been made up on the spot. We report these errors and are told that the CS rep will receive some training.
We believe what is published over what a rep says, sad though that is.
I simply do not believe that they will ditch age verification for bladed items under SD, that would get ebay in so much trouble. Instead I believe that they will be excluded from SD altogether. Either the CS rep misunderstood what was being asked or made it up.

As the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 categorises all knives, including old cutlery knives, as bladed articles, and it's illegal to sell these to anyone under 18, online sites must have an age verification programme in place.
So, it can't be circumvented but it is likely that some carriers have a blanket exclusion for bladed items. If a carrier available under Simple Delivery cannot take these items then I can see that a seller would be able to select their own option here.
It's a matter of waiting and seeing what actually is in place; some issues with Simple Delivery weren't apparent at the start (for example Evri was being offered as a shipping method for buyers to select in some regions where was there was no Evri shipping service available for the seller, this has now been addressed).

Hi @jckl1957 ,
There is a restricted items list for items that cannot be posted with Simple Delivery which includes knives amongst other bladed items. These still require age verification postage but cannot be sent with simple delivery.
Thank you,
Kat
