Selling for charity

I sell for charity, it appears the money comes into my account first, before being paid out to the charity sometime later. Does anyone know where I can find a clear account of the movement of these funds through eBay / eBay Giving Fund, and how I can match these payments with specific sales? thanks

Selling for charity

Hi @ddlmike ,

Thank you for your post.

For a quick look you can go to your seller hub> payments tab> all transactions. This is a list of all your transactions and it will show fees with a ribbon icon next to it for those charity ones.  For a report that you can download you can go to seller hub> reports> downloads> click on download report > select orders and download.

Thank you,

Kat

I am intrigued as to why you want to track the funds through ebay, have you a concern that they are not going where they should?

Unless the system has changed, funds are collected by Paypal, read here -

Selling for charity

Hi, and thanks for responding to my question.

From what I can make out, the proceeds of my charity sales are first paid into my personal account, and then at a later date withdrawn automatically by eBay Giving Fund and passed on the the charity.

Recently I sold quite a high value item, and my concern is that there are still sufficient funds in my account when this is later withdrawn.

I tried using the charity’s own seller hub, (where the money would go straight into their account) but found that I was unable to use the purchasers funds for postage and ended up paying postage myself.

Some clarity on how selling for charity works would be really helpful

Regards, Mike

Selling for charity

Hi @ddlmike ,

eBay made a change to how donations were collected in September of 2024. Up until then donations were usually paid by PayPal invoice. After September ebay now automatically deducts the donations after the sale and transfers them to the PayPal giving fund. The PayPal giving fund then gives them to the charity.

Thank you,

Kat
