Sellers not responding, refuse to accept cancellation, no item

I am shocked by being left in limbo and with each day that goes by, I fear my money is gone too! 3 weeks ago I bought 2 items of furniture from two separate Sellers (so it appears) and both advertised that the pieces needed to be collected. One Seller insisted the item had to be collected within 3 days. I sent both Sellers messages asking them to confirm collection address and best day and time to collect. I heard nothing for about a week and half. Worried, I requested a refund as, their circumstances may have changed, and normally Sellers are very responsive. After completing a refund request eBay sent automated message a few days later informing me that the Sellers have each declined a refund and would deliver each item of furniture by 1 December. I wondered how that would be possible since the items were collection only and neither had responded to any of my messages. It is now 2nd December and I have not received any communications, and unsurprisingly, neither item of furniture have been delivered nor have I heard from the Sellers. 
I am feeling really upset about this as I cannot purchase an alternative piece of furniture which I very much need, until I get my money back. 
My money is being held back for 3 weeks now and with Christmas coming up, it is adding to the financial strain not to mention the stress.

I don’t know if I have been incredibly unlucky to have come across 2 really thoughtless Sellers or if I have become subject to a scam. Which ever way I look at it, it’s a horrible place to be and I have been disappointed with the lack of action by eBay who clearly do not monitor emails or review transactions because it would have been apparent that this is highly unusual and suspect not to mention grossly unfair. 
Unless this is something that happens and thereby not a cause for alarm, and that I am worrying unnecessarily, it would really help to receive any advice or guidance. Thank you.

If this was a collection item then if 7 day pass and you do not receive your items proceed this way.

 

If the seller is not being helpful,  go right of the item purchased,  and from More Actions select....  I Have Not Received My Item.

If you are not fully refunded within 3 days,  you must escalate the case on day 4 or within 30 days from opening the case,  and eBay will step in and force the refund.

Do not close the case early for any excuse or promise the seller may give,  and do not forget to escalate.

 

If these are 2 separate purchases,  you need to open 2 cases,  one for each item.
