Seller "not at address" for return of faulty item

I purchased one of those UV light gizmos that zap flies etc., but it was faulty (in fact, downright dangerous). Anyway, seller supplied a return label, and I parcelled it up and handed it to R.M.last week (Tuesday Aug 29th). Last Friday, I left for a two week visit to my daughter's, 200 miles away. Tonight, I checked the status, and it says:

"Sat 2 Aug 11:54am Recipient not at address. Returned to sender.

Sat 2 Aug 11:52am Due to be delivered today
Wed 30 Jul 8:52pm Item Received
Tue 29 Jul 9:30am Item Collected"

So... where do I stand now? Seller hasn't accepted it, I can't take the "returned return"  (not that I want to), and I can't seem to get any sense from eBay's help bot.
Any real people out there that can advise please?
TIA
Steve
Over promise, then under deliver = negative buyer experience, INR cases, unhappy buyers and sellers.
Under promise, then over deliver = Positive buyer experience, joy and happiness all round.
If only eBay could get their heads round this basic concept, this would be a happier place for all.

As long as tracking shows attempted delivery to seller, escalate to ebay, they will sort refund.

Thank you. How and when do I do that though?

Go to case details & there is an option  for more actions - ask ebay to step in.
