Seller protection

If I use a QR code to send an item and the buyer says they never received the item, do I then lose out and have to refund? Just a bit wary of not using a tracked service.

If you used Simple Delivery on the listing you are protected if the item is lost/damaged from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network and until it's marked as delivered.   That means ebay will pay the refund, not you when the buyer opens a "not received" case.
