Hi all, I recently bought a set of bathroom scales. Description said they were brand new but when they arrived they were filthy with clear foot marks.
They worked fine so I cleaned them and messaged the seller to say I wasn't happy. I wasn't expecting a refund just an acknowledgement that they had mislaid me. I was ignored so I left negative feedback, reflecting my experience . Now I have received a threatening message, quite insulting and saying they will report me to ebay.
What steps can I take to.protect myself ?
I'll add that this is prib6the first time I've left negative feedback in hunof transactions.

If you are not happy with the item return it as not as described for a full refund

I'd just not engage further with them, there's nothing they can report you for.
Add them to your blocked buyer list:

Saying that he will report you to eBay is hardly threatening. Threatening behaviour is behaviour that merits reporting to the police.
He is unnecessarily rude and offensive, especially for a business seller, but this is something we're all liable to encounter occasionally when trading with strangers online. What probably happened is that this was a customer return which he failed to check properly before reselling. This often happens. I once bought a "new" electric razor, and found it full of someone else's hair!
In fact, you have done him a favour by not using eBay's money back guarantee because the item was not new as described. eBay would have accepted your word for the item condition and he would have had to refund you in full, and pay for the return postage.
Anyway, you don't have to worry about him reporting you - eBay won't be interested. Just forget him and move on.
