Seller ignoring me

Hi. Is anyone able to help?

On 23 September I purchased an item as a Christmas gift. When it was opened at Christmas, it was found to have a manufacturing fault. I contacted the seller who agreed it was faulty.

As it was outside the automated refund period, I politely mentioned the item 'not being fit for purpose' and they agreed to a refund. I had numerous messages with them, explaining I paid using my DD card, but now they are blanking me. I've not received anything.

What now? Under the Consumer Act 2015, I am entitled to a refund. But I really don't want to pursue legal action for £7.99. But it's the principle.

I contacted Ebay but they didn't want to know.

Ebay give you 30 days only to open a return if the item you have bought is faulty.

It is probably too late to pursue a chargeback through your bank - generally, you have 120 days to open a claim if you pay with a debit or credit card.

Realistically, there is not anything you can do.  As you now realise, there is a lot of difference between being aware of your consumer rights and being able to enforce them.
