Seller has not refunded me

I purchased a car pressure pump on eBay for £290. The listing stated it was the correct model for my car, but when it arrived, it didn’t fit. I messaged the seller directly (not through eBay’s return system) to request a return and refund, explaining it wasn’t fit for purpose.

After two months of back and forth, the seller finally agreed to accept the return and sent me a return label. I posted the pump back in March 2025, and according to the tracking number, it was delivered and received.

Since then, I’ve had no refund, no updates, and the seller has completely stopped responding to my messages. The purchase was made in November 2024, and it’s now October 2025 — still no resolution.

eBay won’t help because I didn’t open an official return case at the time. I feel stuck and unsure what to do next to get my £290 back. Has anyone dealt with something similar or can offer advice on what steps I should take now?

I am afraid after this length of time even your funding source can't help.  You might need to consider legal action.

Next time use the money back guarantee and open a case through ebay within 30 days.

Seller has not refunded me

Hello,

This is a rude and perfunctory reply. Firstly I have been awaiting a reply
from the customer service agent. Secondly, the purchase was also covered by
your green tick guarantee.
I also sent back the item to the seller under ebay guidance so they have my
payment and my item and I have nothing,

I think it was a polite and accurate reply based on what you said in your opening post.

It was not 'my' green tick, whatever that is, because I am not ebay just another member like you.

Anyway, good luck with ebay customer services.

“After two months of back and forth, the seller finally agreed to accept the return”

As the money back guarantee is only for 30 days, by the time you returned you were out of time to open a proper return case, but could then still have tried your payment provider, as generally they allow 6 months.

Seller knew there was nothing you could do through ebay, so now 11 months after purchase you need to get some legal advice as to whether you have a hope of getting any refund, and how much it would cost you to take any action and still not getting anything back.

Using the proper tools available through ebay you would have got a refund last November/December.
