Yesterday I paid for a Buy it now item which stated Free shipping. Today they sent me a message saying they have to pay £100 in shipping and want me to contribute, £60. I said no, and they have reduced it to £50. I have asked how would i even pay and then said, no its your responsibility to follow through with what was advertised. What should i do now? I doubt they will send the item. Honesty, this is the problem with ebay. Useless sellers like this. Their mistake, they pay or are they just trying to scam me?

Tell the seller to cancel the transaction. If they don't do that and don't send the item open a "not received" case when the estimated delivery date on the listing has passed, and you will get a full refund.

All you can do is, one day after the last estimated delivery date open a not received case and leave feedback to reflect your experience.

Sounds a bit dodgy to me - any extra money that you send them will be outside of eBay and you won't be able to retrieve it if you a) don't receive your item or b) receive a small cheap item that isn't as described.

Where did the listing say the item you purchased was located?
No way should you pay any more free postage means just that, and if item was located outside the UK then it was careless of them to list with Free Postage.
Do not forget to leave feedback however this gets resolved.
