Seller cancelled order

So I was on my way to collect chairs I had bought when seller decides to tell me he doesn’t now want to sell. I already paid him via eBay . He wants my bank account details, is this safe , is there any other way round it?

The seller can and should refund you through Ebay.

You don't need to give them your bank account details.

They need to cancel the sale which will result in you being refunded through Ebay.
