Seller blocked me.

I purchased two items from this seller, keeping one item and returning the other, as the seller accepts 30 days returns.

I returned the one item immediately following correct procedures, and received a refund with the seller leaving good reviews.

I recently bid on an item from the seller only to see, Problem with bid notice as the seller has blocked me.

I have tried to contact the seller with no response.

has this happened to anyone else?

Not unusual if you returned an item.

Nothing anyone can do if seller doesn't want to sell to you again.

As a seller, I always block buyers who return items, leave negative feedback etc.

The seller does not want to deal with you again and they have every right to block you to ensure you don't buy from them again.

Re: Seller blocked me.

The seller is only able to leave a positive review/feedback, hence why they did. False negatives are not allowed by ebay.  Like others have said - we always block sellers who return items for no reason or are troublesome. We don't have time or want this sort of shenanigans here or anywhere else for that matter with buyers.

adding to the advice already given -

The negative x 2 feedback you left the seller for blocking you is serious feedback abuse, if the seller reports you the negs will be removed and that would damage your account.

A lot of sellers may check out the feedback you have left for others if you bid on their items.  Personally, I can see other sellers adding you to their blocked bidders list on the grounds of the feedback you have left for that seller.

Re: Seller blocked me.

This  behaviour is so unprofessional, why advertise returns accepted?

Just let people know returns are not accepted (like most sellers do), this is so unnecessary.

If I knew returning an item would get me blocked from that seller, I would have just kept the item.

Just let people know returns not accepted.

I always leave positive feedback for sellers, I feel if some wishes to block me for returning an item, when they have advised breath easy returns accepted, then I need to mention this in my feedback.

Re: Seller blocked me.

No one wants the shenanigans you speak of, just let people know returns not accepted, then you wouldn’t have to always block customers who return items.

Troublesome customers are a different matter.

I have only returned a few items on eBay when they have arrived damaged, and returned to seller’s that accept returns, then go on to buy from these sellers with confidence that if an item is damaged or not as described/pictured I can return the item.

No need for time wasters or shenanigans, just happy customers and happy sellers.

Re: Seller blocked me.

Private sellers can refuse change of mind returns.

Business sellers have to accept all type of returns.

Sellers don't have to have a valid reason to block buyers, it is their right to do so.

Re: Seller blocked me.

This seems so unfair and unkind, I didn’t realise that buying a few trinkets on eBay would be so ruthless.

I would prefer a seller to refuse my return, instead of accepting a return and then blocking me for doing so.

Blocking a customer for no valid reason because it is their right to do so also feels wrong and unkind.

Thanks for the info.

Re: Seller blocked me.

Blocking a customer for returning an item following all sellers guidelines is a form of abuse on the seller’s behalf, when advertised as returns accepted (misleading information).
I feel customers should be made aware of this, as it’s made me feel awful, as if I’ve done something wrong and now being punished. I’d like to spare others from feeling the same, hence the feedback.

Threatening to damage my account by sharing my experience also feels like abuse.

I’ve always supported private/small businesses and sellers, after the information I’ve received from this platform and the negative attitude towards customers from private sellers, I’ll be careful who I buy from in the future.

Advertising as “breath easy returns accepted” really means returns accepted you are now blocked for doing so, this a false sense of confidence for buyers.

As an experienced mentor, can you refer this case to eBay, as this situation is avoidable if sellers state returns not accepted, instead of the false notion that returns are accepted, this would spare all parties involved.

No one threatened you, what might happen if the seller reports the feedback was just pointed out.

"As an experienced mentor, can you refer this case to eBay,"

We don't refer cases to eBay and, in fact, what case?

Re: Seller blocked me.

This is no way to treat your customers!, by all means troublesome customers (whatever that means), sellers that have a valid reason to block customers should of course do so.

Please don’t lure customers in with the false confidence that you are willing to accept returns, then block the customer for doing just that.

I can see how the seller wins here, appearing to do the right thing, then blocking the customer with no repercussions for the seller, very unfair and unkind.

Re: Seller blocked me.

The seller should be able to leave true feed, not as allowed.

The more I learn about eBay, the scarier it becomes.

False, really is the keyword!!!

I suppose if a seller has this attitude, then they are doing the customer a favour by blocking them.

Re: Seller blocked me.

Business sellers have to accept returns - it is not an option they can accept or refuse.

They don't have to sell again to dissatisfied buyers.

Re: Seller blocked me.

As business sellers lose out on the outward postage cost when they accept a change of mind return they may block buyers who return items.

The problem you have now, as pointed out by others, is the unwarranted negative feedback you've left for the seller. If you're just purchasing from fixed price Buy It Now listings then it won't be a problem, but if you bid on an auction and the seller checks out your feedback left for others they may cancel your bid and block you.

I don't understand why you've changed the feedback to neutral now with some very odd comments.  eBay can't make you revise a feedback, the seller must've sent you feedback revision requests. I would've just put 'Thanks' or something similar.

Re: Seller blocked me.

I was a very satisfied customer, the one item I returned for a valid reason.

I won’t elaborate, but I choose to return that item without the need of embarrassing the seller, and kept the other item.

Do you believe advertising as, “Breath Easy returns accepted” then blocking a customer for doing so is wrong.

Why not be honest and upfront and state returns not accepted, as many sellers do.

This is unjust, may be a violation of consumer rights.

Re: Seller blocked me.

Highlighting a wrong in my opinion, is more important than my eBay account.

I spend a small fortune on there anyway and need to stop.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Seller blocked me.

You had the right to return the item for a full refund - a right you exercised.

The seller then has the right not to deal with you again - they exercised that right.

From time to time, I block members who I have had no dealings with but, from their postings in the forum, or the feedback they have left for others, I conclude that I don't want to be in a transaction with that person.

Sellers have rights too.

Re: Seller blocked me.

I get the feeling this forum is for sellers only.

My point is, if a seller decides returns are damaging for their business, cost and time wise, this should be stated as nobody wants a company/seller to suffer or restrict their customers due to a return.

Re: Seller blocked me.

As we have advised, business sellers online have to accept all returns by law.

It is their perogative if they then block these buyers from future sales.

Re: Seller blocked me.

I paid postage on both ends.

Feedback is odd, I agree.

The whole situation is odd, it’s really put me off buying on eBay, which is such a shame as I’ve purchased quite a few items 😊, and had nothing but an amazing experience with sellers.

I thought this forum was to discuss issues like this, that could better eBay for the seller and buyer.

I feel it’s for sellers not buyers, as one or two of the mentors have been quite aggressive.

Didn't the seller refund the full original payment?

Did they just refund the item price?
