Scam

Ten thousand pounds!

Can you come back and tell us those details please what happened exactly ?

Was the purchase of a vehicle involved?

If so, there will be no help from eBay but you would need to turn to legal advice  for this case.

Scam

Hi! Yes it was a camper van which has now been delisted and dread to think
how many people he has scammed with this listing. When the police contacted
him he claimed his identity had been cloned and it wasn’t him! When my
husband contacted the seller (same number) he confirmed oh yes this is
still for sale x

Scam

Take legal advice.  It's far,  far too much money to lose.

Scam

There are so many scams on eBay motors - often involving adverts for camper vans.

In a TV programme about organised crime, a senior police officer reported that one criminal gang alone had registered "multiple hundreds" of fake accounts on eBay to place fraudulent listings for non-existent motor vehicles.

Forget about eBay doing anything - they won't, unless perhaps the seller is convicted in a court.

Concentrate efforts to identify the member responsible, and bring them to justice.  It's essential to seek legal advice, partly because action to get your parents'money back may be separate from any criminal charges brought by the police.
