Return / Refund

Hi looking for some advice. I am a private seller and sold an electronic item to a seller 4-5 months ago. The seller has now come back to me saying that they have only now switched the item on and it isn’t working.  It was working when posted and was well packaged. The seller is demanding a refund right away and is quoting consumer act if i do not comply within one day.  I have only the sellers word that they have only started using the device and it could have been used and broken by seller since the sale went through.

any help appreciated.

Re: Return / Refund

Hi. Thank you for this. So they could seek chargeback then eBay would liaise with me as a seller to resolve the funds issue. I’m just concerned eBay just take the money.

Much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Return / Refund

Your buyer is way out of time to make a claim via eBay or PayPal (30 days), and even if they paid with a debit card they're out of time there too now.

If the payment was over £100.01 and they paid by credit card they can view the section 75 credit card protection cover.

Re: Return / Refund

As advised out of time for refund through ebay, but can still get a refund by other means.

There is no way to refund through ebay now, but you should if it comes to it to get item returned before a refund is forced.

Buyer may want instant refund, but he will find it is not possible even if you wanted to. Only way for refunds outside ebay is Paypal or bank transfer.

While he cannot leave feedback now, suggest you add him to your blocked bidders list, to prevent him making trouble later.

Sorry, forgot to add this to my post.

"Some claims section 75 claims  CAN be made after 120 days, but the longest cut-off period is 540 days from the date of the initial transaction".
