Request to cancel from buyer

Hello folks . I don’t sell much on eBay but have just sold an item which had a good few bidders . The person who won has now requested to cancel saying bought by mistake . So I need to re-list , fair enough . I do think the person who wants to cancel should at least pay my re-listing fee . Any input / advice much appreciated.
thanks

Re: Request to cancel from buyer

As a private seller you don't have listing fees. However if you list items for 3 days then you will incur a listing fee.

You don't get your listing fee refunded if a buyer cancels, but when you relist you could list for 7 days instead.

Or, once cancelled, you can make a second chance offer to your  under bidder.

Incidentally, if you haven't cancelled yet you could wait the full 4 days and then cancel using "Buyer didn't pay" and your buyer will get an unpaid strike on their account which, if they get another they will be unable to bid on much for a year.

Re: Request to cancel from buyer

Thanks for your input . Very helpful and very much appreciated.
Do I need to cancel the winning bid before i have the option to offer it to second bidder . I can see the bids but can’t see where I could do this .
Thank you

Re: Request to cancel from buyer

As Plpmr has said , you can't cancel the bid. To cancel an item go to this link:

 https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/getting-paid/sellers-can-cancel-order?id=4136&st=3&pos=3&query=H...

Once cancelled The Second Chance Offer should then appear.

Use the reason? Buyer asked to cancel.
