Hi,

I listed a conservatory for sale. To cut a long story short I sold to someone who contacted me via the Ebay sale but we settled privately and I removed the item. He was a scammer....previous feedback comments confirm that he did the same to other people. ...i know ....I should have checked better. I'm trying to report to stop this happening to other people but it just won;t let me report as item not actually sold through ebay. The A1 bot is useless. Can't get to contact a human. Any ideas?

How did he scam you exactly? eBay won't do anything about an off-eBay deal.

Of course you cannot report yourself, if you did you sould probably either be suspended for a time or permanently.

You broke the rules, and got scammed in some way, you do not say how, but as outside ebay you have no sale/buyer to report.

You did an off ebay deal and yet you want to report the buyer to ebay?

You can't report them as it was not an ebay transaction.

These boards are for help with eBay problems.

You admit that you sold off eBay so there's no help that can be offered.

As for reporting the buyer for scamming you on an off eBay deal - the only possible action for eBay to take would be against you.

Hi,

I'm not surprised you say that but as it started as an eBay sale and he
contacted e through eBay I feel like I want to do what I to protect others.

He agreed to buy my conservatory and dismantle and remove. He basically
took the lead and aluminium and left the rest and the mess!

Even if he had bought through ebay he could still have done that and there would be nothing to report him for. You couldn't even leave feedback explaining what he did unless you somehow framed it as positive.
