Refund without my agreement

A buyer stated that the glass in a painting arrived broken. The photo they sent was very unclear. EBay has refunded them without any reference to me or any attempt at a fair compromise. Now they have a free framed painting and just have to get new glass! Very cross about this! What’s the point of selling with EBay? It’s a licence for dishonest and greedy buyers!

Did you use simple delivery?  If so ebay would have refunded and you keep tge payment.

Hi, I THINK I did use Simple delivery. I’ve restarted using eBay recently and finding it a minefield. Thanks for your helpful reply 👍🌷

There's been some big changes on eBay for Private sellers if you have returned to selling.

Simple Delivery is now mandatory for Private sellers,  it has some issues,  combined postage still not available,  but has some bonuses too.  If an item doesn't arrive or arrives broken in transit,  eBay refund the buyer,  you the seller gets to keep the payouts.

Most items are also covered for  loss up to £750.
