Proposed Fees for buyers from Feb 25

I'm a private seller who doesn't get a great deal out of what I sell. When eBay trumped out their "no seller fees" for most sellers they were quick to point out what a great favour they were doing for sellers. Now I've been informed that they will begin charge buyers 4% +75p per listing from Feb 25. I'm thinking of closing my account because I don't think anyone will want to pay this scam fee on top of what I sell which will cause me to squeeze down my prices, which is not worth it for me. Am I the only person who thinks that eBay are back to their old cheap *bleep*ty tricks again just to screw the small sellers?

No,  you are not the only person thinking of leaving,  look to the forum for the many threads about this new system coming soon.

Were you selling when the seller fees were in place and they were approximately 13.4%?  Although disliked,  any increase for payments in whatever guise,  is never going to be popular,   this ' fee' if you like to look at it this way,  is less than the previous Final Value fee Private sellers paid.

Hi, yes I was selling and I get your point to a degree. But a fixed fee on top of a percentage makes the fee way higher in relation to items selling for negligible prices... and items that have been selling well have virtually no chance of selling now. At least when the fees were on me I could decide whether it was worth listing beforehand.

And eBay has a long history of screwing the small seller one way or another. So I shouldn't be surprised.

Thanks for replying. Have a great day 🙂

I totally agree that for sellers selling items of a low value,  sorry I did not  know your items were in this bracket when selling,  then yes,  this new Buyer Protection fee is a killer.

I'm sure it just will not make it worthwhile for some sellers,  unless they can sell 2 or 3 plus items together,   but individually it's definitely not going to be a feasible venture,  making some items just too expensive to buy.
