Process when item is sold

Hello, please excuse the basic questions but I am new to eBay selling and have just sold my item. I received a message from the buyer saying - 'Good morning. I was just following up to see what the situation with this is. It's due latest tomorrow but you don't yet seem to have sent it. Thanks' -- Can someone let me know what the process is from my end please? Does eBay hold the sellers payment and release it to me once I have sent the the item to the buyer? I haven't received the money as yet.  Does the buyer pay for postage? If so  when, because how would the buyer know how much the postage was when he bought the item if I've not yet sent it? Thanks

You need to be very careful with this expensive item.   As a new seller ebay will put the payment on hold but they will send notification that buyer has paid.  Make sure that is from ebay.   Check in your ebay account that ebay is saying item has been paid for.    You had postage price on your listing so buyer pays item price plus postage.   Be sure to send it fully insured.

If you have any doubts you can cancel the transaction.  Click on the dropdown menu arrow alongside the item on your orders page and select Cancel order.   A refund will be issued in the process.   Come back for more advice if you need to.

Your item,  the collection of coins,  sold on the 18th January.

Did eBay send you a message that the buyer has paid?  As a new seller your payout will be held for up to 21 days and will rely on tracking to show delivery to release the payout.

When  eBay send you the message your buyer has paid,  you must post the item asap, to the name and address, eBay provide on the order details for the item.

Sellers have to work out the postage themselves and charge accordingly,  adding the postage charge  when creating the listing.  You added £4.99 for postage for this item,  so this is what the buyer will pay.

The buyer is asking why you are not marking the item as dispatched.  If as said,  eBay have sent a message this buyer has paid , you must pack and post this item now , to the name and address eBay provided.

It's an expensive item,  make sure you add enough insurance cover for this.  You cannot ask the buyer for more money if you have not calculated this correctly, but worth shouldering the loss , if you need to add that insurance cover yourself.

That is s most unusual message from a buyer, but you do not say whether you have been advised BY EBAY that it has been paid for. So long as buyer has paid, whether money is released to you or not you have to post, otherwise you can get a defect for not posting on time, or buyer can open a case for not received to get a refund

Your methods of postage do not give much away, but whatever you use MUST cover for full value of item. It  is no good if lost, to find you have to refund in full but you can only claim £20 compensation for loss.

Do not allow a scammer to take advantage of your lack of knowledge.

Process when item is sold

Is it an unusual message?

The item was sold on the 18th.  It's an expensive item,  if the buyer has paid and seeing after 5 days there is no evidence of it being marked as dispatched,  and it seems to be one day late,  he's sending the seller a polite message asking if the item has been sent.

Seemingly a good move, as the seller being new is not certain  at all  how selling works by the questions asked,  but it would help us to know if eBay has sent this seller,  that all important message informing them that,  the buyer has paid.
