Price glitching on a Buy It Now item.

Hello,

I have an item listed as “Buy It Now” (Item #: 135592465176). I set the price at £420 with free postage via Special Delivery.

However, when I view the listing, the price sometimes appears correctly as £420, but most of the time, it shows as £435.12.

I can’t figure out why this is happening. I haven’t listed anything on eBay in over a decade, so I’m unfamiliar with any recent changes.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Alec

It's not you, it's ebay and their new buyer protection fee.   Details here:

Re: Price glitching on a Buy It Now item.

Thank you for replying. Makes sense now.

I think the user interface should include a subline beneath the price box that automatically updates with the final price. This could be a useful suggestion for the eBay support team—providing honest, straightforward pricing upfront for the end user. It would be especially beneficial when setting an item at a fixed price for the customer.

A little suggestion: ?

I think buyers only see the price including the fee.   You're seeing the price excluding the fee because you're the seller.

Re: Price glitching on a Buy It Now item.

I think you will find that buyers already see the price they will end up paying. It is certainly putting buyers off, as 75p plus 4% may not sound much, but 75p ruins low value items, and the 4% does not help higher value items.

Where else apart from ebay do you buy only to be told there is an extra fee payable.

Ebay does not welcome suggestions, bit short sighted, their excuse is that a member of staff might highjack a suggestion.
