Postage - Why Are Ebay So Intent On Profiteering Off Both Seller and Buyer?

I have a customer who bought two separate small items and paid the postage on both.  Naturally I want to refund one set of postage as both items can fit in the one postage (well within size and weight limits).   Only eBay won't let me do this, because its Simple Postage - THEY REFUSE TO REINBURST THE BUYER.

I had already suggested to the buyer that we can cancel one transaction and do it again without the postage but he doesn't want the hassle - as is his right!  I am putting both items in the one post, I'm only an amateur at this but I understand customer service - I wish EBay would!

eBay in their ultimate wisdom have informed the buyer will be refunded in 40 DAYS! In the meantime, I will rack up all the defaults because it is showing I've not sent the item.  Does anyone know how to get around this?  Many thanks, Keith.

As a ' Private Seller',  I'm presuming you are using Simple Delivery?  In which case any unused labels paid for,  eBay do not keep that money,  it's reimbursed, not instantly though,  to whoever initially paid for the labels.

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.  Also ensure you add the replacement tracking number of the service used, and it shows delivery.
