Partial refund on returned item

The buyer changed his mind and I agreed to refund the amount I received fro ebay for the sale.

This was agreed but ebay does not appear to allow me to alter the refund from the full amount.

There seems to be no way I can contact ebay directly about this other than auto resonses that do not cover the situation.

What can I do?

If you wish to make a partial refund,  preferably use a laptop / PC and Chrome,  then click on the item in your sold listing.

Top left click on View order details.  Far right from More Actions select Refund this item.

Be careful to add the correct amount you wish to refund,  or you will refund the full amount.

Buyer could still open a not received case to get a fill refund, that is what ebay would give as a partial refund does not prevent buyer opening a case.

This does not allow me to change the amount from the full amount.

Is there a case opened?  The buyer has to close the case,  for you to be able to send a partial refund with my instructions above.

Have you had the item back?

If so, then the buyer is entitled to a full refund, but you will only ever be able to refund what you actually received, and ebay refunds the bit they received.

Hi, I have received the item, but ebay can only let me make a full refund. I have spoked to an ebay agent today and the only way I can make a partial refund, is to do it off platform directly to the buyer, if he agrees.

I have messaged him, and waiting for a response.

I thought I was being fair in agreeing to the return, even though the system specifies against it, however, It is wrong that I am then out of pocket. Leaves a bad taste and will certainly affect any future sales.

Hi all, I was not able to pay a partial refund but, following advice from an ebay agent, I settled with the buyer off the platform and he closed the return.

So all sorted. I paid the guy the agreed refund so all happy. Just had to be off the ebay platform.
