I bought some aquarium water conditioner thinking it was the 473ml bottle by the price, it arrived it was the 273ml bottle, they'd charged me 16.99 for !! It's £13 odd ....they tried claiming of the price has gone up, so I searched and no other seller had that bottle at nearly twice the price as they did !! I got a return but eBay charged me the return postage..... absolutely maddening !!! eBay contact options change every year, the auto assistant is brain dead doesn't understand and only gives answers it wants to or let's you ask questions it wants to,

If the bottle you received was as described in the listing you were not entitled to a free return just because you had assumed from the price that it would be a larger bottle.
The seller is only responsible for return postage when an item doesn't match the description. If the buyer didn't read the description properly the return is at their own expense.

I suspect it was a multi listing.
So you select size you want from list & price changes.
Usually the smaller/cheaper bottle is shown 1st.

Ebay didn't list anything, seller did & are responsible for their own listing details.
You have your refund, although you paid return postage, so ebay won't get involved anymore.

This is an ebay member forum, we are not ebay employees or have any say on their policies.
You point may be valid, but you will have to argue that with ebay.
Had you opened not as described case, seller would have had to supply returns label.
