Simple Delivery, buyer's POV

Have already made the decision to stop selling on eBay due to this ridiculous system, but I have issues as a buyer. I bid on something over the weekend and won it; wasn't given a choice of service or the option to use click and collect, and when the order confirmation email came I discovered that my item was being handled by Evri, an outfit I actively avoid due to a slew of negative experiences. My question is this - am I correct in thinking that it's no longer feasible for me to ask a seller if they will use a different courier if I pay extra? While I have every sympathy with sellers, I don't think it's fair that buyers have a third rate delivery method forced on them.

The seller can't just change or use another courier.   They would have to cancel/refund the transaction.   They can then opt out of using Evri with simple delivery via their postage preferences.   Then relist for you to buy and pay again, this time using Royal Mail.

That's what I was afraid of.  Can't see many sellers wanting to do that, because I know I certainly wouldn't want the faff...
