Hello,
A couple of days ago, I bought an item from a Japanese seller (I am based in Netherlands).
The seller shipped it with FedEx, and provided me with a parcel tracking number. I'm able to track the parcel.
However, today, I was emailed by FedEx Netherlands - or rather, by FedEx but through the eBay seller (the email address was an eBay member address, with the sellers name). In the email, I was told the following:
'We did not receive a copy of the commercial invoice corresponding to your shipment's content in our system. Please provide a detailed commercial invoice for the clearance process to be completed'. They mention that I have to respond today with the information by responding directly to this email, or by phoning them.
At first, I figured they must be referring to the eBay invoice, which you can download via the desktop site in your order history. So I replied them that. But it didn't feel right to me, so I called them up, and explained. The person on the phone told me to email a completely different address, which I of course did right away.
I also asked the seller what it is that FedEx needs of me exactly, but they just told me to take care of it with FedEx.
I did some googling, and now I'm not so sure that I can actually obtain what FedEx is asking of me. As I understand, the so called 'Commercial invoice' is what the seller is supposed to put on the outside of the parcel? I feel like the seller was supposed to take care of this beforehand.
Anyone ever run into something like this?
As far as I can see, the parcel is still getting status updates and seems to be on the way. I don't really know what to do here.
