Your Post Office just hands over the items to Royal Mail it's RM who lost your item.
I've made 2 claims in the past from Royal Mail for lost items, and have been successfully refunded with a cheque, not a book of stamps some receive!
No ' marketplace number' was required to enter, I used a form from the Post Office.
You just need to print off the order details for the item lost, and attach that to your claim form. Also include the proof of postage showing the time and date you posted the item.
The above is all you require to claim from RM for a lost item.
