No refund

Hello fellow ebay users! I'm an occasional buyer and I'm having a problem which I can't work out how to solve. I bought a phone case but it wasn't suitable, so I messaged the seller and he agreed I could return it. I posted it back to him but still haven't received a refund. It's not very clear what he's saying, but it sounds like it's in customs somewhere (he's in Germany and I'm in the UK) and he hasn't bothered to pick it up. We've been back and forth for months (I wanted to give him time to sort the problem out, whatever it was) and now I want to get ebay to step in. However, the purchase seems to be too old for me to be able to do that. How can I get it reopened so I can get ebay to sort it out? I've paid over £24 for absolutely nothing, and I have no idea what has happened to the case or whether the seller has just resold it and pocketed the money.

Also, how can I contact ebay itself without using the automated chat (which was no use)? All ideas welcome!

Re: No refund

Months is far too long to get any help from eBay.

You have 30 days from delivery to open a case to return an item and get your refund, you could try your payment provider to see if they can help.

Re: No refund

Did you return it through an ebay return case? If so the tracking should show whether it showed delivered.

Ebay would have given you a timeline and after a few days you could have escalated your case to ask ebay to step in and refund you.

It sounds as though you are probably too late now, you only get 30 days to open a case.

Try your bank now, and see if you can start a chargeback.

Re: No refund

From what you say you did your own thing and returned, without opening a proper return case within 30 days.

You are far too late, but unless you use proper ebay procedures, then you cannot exoect any help from ebay.

On every listing, right side is a link to money back guarantee, why don’t you read it to see correct procedure, which guarantees getting a refund.

Re: No refund

Thanks guinevere, that's helpful of you. No I didn't, I had no idea I needed to do that. I just messaged the seller and he messaged back saying it was fine to return it. He didn't tell me to raise a return case. It feels like he's just been stringing me along.  30 days doesn't seem like enough time, what if it gets stuck in customs as the seller said it did?

Re: No refund

I didn't read it because I didn't know there was anything new to read. It's fine if you use ebay all the time, you know all the processes, but I just use it occasionally and I don't remember having to do this last time I had to return something.  ebay doesn't seem very user-friendly any more; the seller seems to have taken me for a ride and there's nothing I can do about it, even though I was the one giving him lots of chances to sort things out.

Re: No refund

Hi guinevere, I'd like to try to give some feedback on this seller but I can't find a way to do it - can you or anyone help on that at all? I did notice when I first bought the item that this seller had a few complaints about delays to refunds, so there may be a pattern here. Thanks for all your help, you give useful information in a non-judgemental way which I appreciate.

Re: No refund

Thank you for letting me know. I don't think I'll be using ebay again if I can avoid it.
