New buyer fees

The new buyer fees structure Ebay are about to introduce are going to put a lot of people out of business.  I have an Ebay shop selling craft items and I sell items from 99p to £6.99  and there is no way that my customers are going to pay my 99p plus the 4% + 75p ebay charge (which of course the buyer will not see that ebay has stuck this onto my low amount) for the item plus the postage cost and if they do I bet I will get negative feedback because the buyer you will just think I am trying to rip them off charging so much for what should just be 99p.  I am going to have to look at other selling sites and cancel my shop subscription with Ebay which is sad as I have been with Ebay for over 20 years now... It is so sad that Ebay is going to do this

But if you were registered as a business seller the buyer fees would not apply.

Having a shop is not the same thing as having a business account.

Re: New buyer fees

I know the buyers would not get the fee if I changed to a business but then I would have to pay an extra £8 a month for my shop and pay 12.9% final fees on everything that I sell and also have barcodes on my items

Re: New buyer fees

Hi, I know that but as I have a shop now as a private seller as I have so many listings of my hand made jewellery it makes it easier for people to find my items so I would want to have a shop if I was to go over to a business seller but that would cost me an extra £8.00 a month then I would have 12.9% final fees as well which for some of my low cost items would not be worth selling

Re: New buyer fees

It's not a matter of economics,  it's a matter of trading legally.

Re: New buyer fees

It is not really a decision you can avoid. If you look through here you will see that many Private Sellers are being forced to register as Business Sellers and your turn will come.

You are competing unfairly with legitimate registered businesses, avoiding ebay fees, and denying your buyers their legal rights.(no returns for one thing)
