New Seller - How Should I Proceed With Unsent Order

Hello.   I am a new seller on Ebay and have discovered that I have one order which has a tracking number and the Royal Mail have noted it as being "we're expecting it", because I had thought I had posted it through the nearest letter box at the nearest drop off point, and I thought I did this one week ago.

However, I have just discovered the ordered item in my flat, how should I proceed with this order?

Explain to buyer, apologise and get in post immediately.

You are likely to get late dispatch or late delivery defects, and possibly negative feedback.

Tracked post should never be put in a letterbox, it needs to pass over post office counter, for tracking to be of any benefit to you as seller.

New Seller - How Should I Proceed With Unsent Order

Thank you for your helpful solution, I shall do that right away.

In terms of the late deliveries defect, will this remain on my account forever, or just a limited period of time, and I assume the negative feedback will remain on my sellers account forever, is that correct?

I know this is a stupid question, but I have been experiencing a lot of headaches recently, and feeling very ill, so this has impaired my thinking a little bit, both yesterday and today.    Could you explain why handing my deliveries over the counter is of benefit to me, as opposed to putting them into a letterbox?  What effect does handing my deliveries over the counter have on my sellers account, as opposed to posting them through a letterbox?  I mean, the tracking of all the items I have sent through letterboxes seems to be working fine, in terms of keeping both me as the seller and the buyer updated regarding the progress of my deliveries.

Thank you for your help.

As you are a new seller with a low volume of sales to date,  that late delivery mark will remain on your account for 12 months.

You have been lucky if you have sent tracked items through a letter box,  they seem to have arrived safely so no item not received cases were opened.  If one hadn't arrived,  and an INR case opened,  that tracking would not have been registered,  this is only done when handing the item over at a Post Office,  and you would have had to refund.

One more tip.  When you hand the item at your PO you receive a proof of posting.  This then will have that tracking number on it , keep those proofs for 6 months,  there is something called a charge back which can appear for item not received, for you to refund within 120 days if you do not have that tracking to show delivery.

Thank you for that clarification.

Could you tell me what amounts to an average to high volume of sales and what top tips can you give me so that I gain the maximum number of views and the maximum number of watchers for my item, as well as gaining the maximum number of offers for my listing, so that the chances of my listing being sold are maximised, so that I can get the maximum amount of earnings as possible.

Which option between auction and buy now provides the greatest potential for a sale.   I know this is really very basic stuff but it would help me a lot to have ths information in one place instead of going through the process and making mistakes which could cost me a lot in negative feedback and lost earnings, which I cannot afford.

Thank you

Not sure of eBay's exact number which makes you a high volume seller,  but it will be in the hundreds.

Your items have a ' ceiling level' for price so I think best to stick to the format you have that is listing them in a Buy it Now format.

Check out the prices set by other sellers selling the same items,  list yours for a little cheaper,  even 50p, buyers will always select the cheapest when faced with a large choice.

You may also wish to register as a Business,  it doesn't matter on volume of sales here, but that you are selling a large quantity of similar , but Brand New items.  A Private seller is one selling their unwanted second hand / used items,  such as a garage, wardrobe,  loft clear out.
