Managed Payments Program

Eby has set me up on this program without my authorisation  Theystaate that they will not removed his and that I am responsibe for seting this up.  I am not.  They state that I have responded to a pop up that would set up this program ad trigger two step authentication, and this aplies to my selling activities on ebay.  I have not listed anything or sale on ebay for several years.  However, I listed five items for sale on Sunday.  The Managed Payments Program was in place long before this.  The ebay representative repeated hiself several times, taked over me and then stated that he was ending the call.   What on earth is going on?  Ebay gets worse by the minute.

Re: Managed Payments Program

Have you registered as a seller, as that is essential if you want to be paid.

Re: Managed Payments Program

I have been buying from ebay for 20 years, but have not, until recently - Sunday 27 July 2025 listed anything for sale.  I did not set up this system and I was rudely advised that I cannot cancel it.  Customer Service was very bullheaded and unhelpful.  I am 84 years of age and not used to jumping through all the hoops and hurdles that ebay is imposing on me.  My IT knowledge is better than most of my age, but this has gotten beyond the absurd.   CS kept trying to tell me that the proceeds from anythnig that I sell is held by ebay for future use when I buy.  Rubbish.  I would prefer to have my funds in my own savings a/c earning interest, and not in ebay's coffers, earning interest, or whatever else they do with our money.   Ebay wants me to take a "selfie", provide identification documentation etc.  - for the umpteenth time!  How many more repetitions of this data do they require?  It is very worrying that they do not appear able to safeguard such sensitive information.  It is a major concern that ebay is repeatedly requiring this information: photos, NHS numbers, drivers licenses and so on!  If ebay does not have this information on their data base, why not and where is it?

Re: Managed Payments Program

Funds from selling are held by eBay (no interest earned).

You can use this money to buy eBay items or transfer it to your linked bank account.

Re: Managed Payments Program

Ebay will never ask you for your NHS number.

If they have previously requested your National Insurance Number and you provided your NHS number, that would explain why they are requesting your NI Number again.

All sellers have to provide proof of identity at some stage.

All sellers are subject to the same terms and  conditions regarding payments.

As you haven't sold for a while and Ebay frequently update payment terms, it is worth having a read here:

Re: Managed Payments Program

“I am responsible for setting this up.  I am not. “

No one else can load bank details, and without them you cannot be paid, so usually you would not be able to list. However as you have sold in the past you can list, but will not get any money, until fully registered for Managed Payments.

Unlike many ebay schemes it is good and works well.
