Lack of support for sellers

I’ve just had an awful experience I sold something that was completely smashed in transit as a seller it was put in a sturdy box bubble wrapped to within a mm of the boxes life..Yet Evri did their usual dropping it from a great height. The buyer contacted me with the issue but then only gave me a few minutes to reply before a return had started with the reason” defective” I don’t blame the buyer as “damaged in transit” which should have been the correct reason is not clearly identified in my opinion as I had the issue as a buyer too and had to google what to do. The issue is if the buyer doesn’t state this the seller has absolutely no rights at all. They then have to pay for the return as well as lose the item which has been damaged through no fault of their own. I contacted the customer service team 3 times and was just told my claim was rejected and absolutely no common sense was applied at all. The pictures submitted clearly show the damage could only have happened in transit. So the buyer doesn’t get a full refund as I could only refund the cost of the item and the seller loses out completely. The customer service team said I could pay for the return then they “ might be able to investigate it further “ so basically u have to risk paying for a useless item and then be out all the return postage costs as well with no hope of eBay ruling in your favour. What a complete joke I won’t be selling anything again it’s not worth the hassle.

Lack of support for sellers

If it's not too late and the buyer is co-operative ask them to contact ebay and they can change the reason for the return to "Item damaged".     Send them this link to request a callback:

Lack of support for sellers

Thanks for your help it’s too late unfortunately. I rang the customer support team straight away to ask them if the buyer could change it and they said they couldn’t if they closed and reopened they wouldn’t have been able to open a case again. I am just mega frustrated as I think eBay should be able to overrule in certain cases. They said they would escalate and I waited 3 days with no call back and then had no choice but to reply to the return as my time had ran out. I’m just completely put off now I was even told when I got the return back I could then open a case against the buyer stated misuse of the return policy. It clearly wasn’t they simply selected the wrong reason..
