Hi someone has asked me to send an item before they make payment. Does this happen as I’m uncomfortable with doing this . Thanks

Ask them if Sainsburys let them walk out with items with a promise to pay later!
On a more serious note, of course you don't send an item out without first receiving payment, just politely let your buyer know that they need to complete eBay checkout before you're able to send the item out to them.

Nooo, never send an item before eBay send you a message that the buyer has paid.
When they do, eBay will also provide the buyer's name and address to post to, post to no other.
Personally, this sounds like the beginning of a scam and I would block this buyer now, from returning to your sales here:

NEVER SEND BEFORE YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY EBAY THAT YOU HAVE BEEN PAID! and only use address on payment advice.
This buyer sounds VERY dodgy. As soon as past 4 days without proper payment, cancel sale for non payment. Add buyer to your blocked buyers list.
NO proper buyer would even think of asking for this.

Adding to the advice already given -
As eBay will only give you the buyers address after they have paid, where would you get their address from?
