Issue with buyer claiming item lost

Hi all, just looking for some advice here as ebay 'customer service' doesnt seem any use in providing any person to person help.

I had a buyer buy a large item from me, item was paid for and sent however a week or so later the buyer claimed the item wasnt delivered and wanted a refund. I checked the tracking info and it wasnt showing as delivered. I refunded the buyer. Checking my account today the buyer has left positive feedback commenting on the condition of the item - surely indicating that it has been delivered. Ive checked the tracking info and its still showing as not yet delivered. Buyer now has my money and the item. Is there a way i can i raise this with ebay as ive contacted the buyer and theres been no reply

Thanks,

T

There is no point raising it with ebay, they can't reverse the refund.  You could try dealing with the buyer directly.

You don't have any proof that your buyer received the item.  It could well be that the feedback they left for you was actually intended for another seller.  It would take an amount of bare-faced cheek for a buyer to get a full refund and then intentionally leave positive feedback.

When you leave feedback (as I am sure you know), you can be presented with a list of recent transactions and can easily leave feedback in error.

Personally, I would send the buyer a very polite and lovely message.  Say you note that they have now received their item and are happy with it.  Remind them that you refunded them and ask how they would like to repay the money you refunded.

However, if the buyer doesn't respond or says that the feedback was left in error, as the tracking does not show as delivered, then you can try making a claim against the carrier.

Thanks for your reply, I've raised it with the buyer but no response (yet).

Hi, thanks for your reply. In most cases I'd strongly agree, however the
positive feedback left was very specific to the item sold (item was a boxed
faulty gaming console, feedback commented on condition of the console box).
I'll see what happens. Thanks, T

Where did you say you checked the tracking info,  showing ' not yet delivered' ?

eBay's tracking is notoriously slow to update tracking.

Check Royal Mail or the courier's used website,  what does the tracking state there ?

If it does show non delivery, then the buyer did leave the feedback for the wrong seller,  he may be buying more than one faulty console for the parts,  or  to fix  perhaps ?
